Highly nourishing conditioner
Perfect for dry or frizzy hair - highly nourishing formulation. Plus it smells lovely!
Unusable and caused massive hair loss
I tried using this on soaking wet hair, and within a few seconds the bar and my hand was covered in lost hair. I followed the instructions by running the bar down the length of my hair trying to focus particularly on the ends. My hair is coarse and curly and dry. This stuff just yanked the hair out of my head and imparted no product whatsoever. Even in sections, spending over five minutes running this down my hair did literally nothing. It looked like half my head was lying on the shower floor. I was on the verge of tears. This is probably the worst hair product I have ever used in my life. I have a very hard time trusting this company when my experience could be so awful yet there are so many 5 star reviews. Though I guess unsurprisingly most of these reviews are not from women with hair like mine. If you have afro-textured hair, run and run FAST.
Ethique
Hello Sarah,
Thanks so much for your review of our Too Delicious mini as well!
Hair loss is very rarely a topical issue, and our bars and their ingredients have been well-tested to not cause breakage or hair loss. There are a few potential reasons why you might be experiencing that you are losing an unusual amount of hair, and I do apologise in advance for the lengthy email to follow.
Silicones. If you have possibly used silicone-heavy hair products in the past, silicone does tend to make your hair feel thicker. Silicone coats hair strands - it forms a layer around the hair cuticle that masks damage and seals in artificial colour pigments in the case colour-treated hair, making it a popular component of many shampoos on the market. We're not a big fan of silicones here at Ethique as they are not beneficial for hair in the long run, and the vast majority are not biodegradable. Because our bars are silicone-free, they do not replace this silicone and your hair might be feeling thinner as the accumulated deposits on your hair shafts are washing away. Previously-damaged hair strands that were being held together by the silicone barrier might also be breaking at weak points when brushed.
Friction. The other thing I can think of is perhaps mechanical damage to hair strands (aka friction by using bars too firmly on your hair), particularly if the hair is damaged. Our bars are very concentrated and only a small amount of product is needed. We recommend thoroughly wetting your hair (and wetting the bar too), gently swiping it just a few times from root to tip, then placing the bar down and building up a lather with your fingers. As tempting as it is, there's no need to keep swiping the bar to hair until a lather begins to build as by this stage, it's likely that too much product has already been deposited to strands. I was certainly guilty of this when I first converted to Ethique bars!
Hormones. The main cause of hair loss is usually hormonal changes. Hair loss is cyclical and we all regrettably go through periods of it - so the hair loss you're presently worried about experiencing could very well be a coincidence as well. If the quantity of hair loss does seem unusual and you are concerned about it, however, I would recommend trying a different shampoo and seeing if it stops in a couple of days.
There's also a genetic component to hair loss!
Please reach out to the team at hello@ethique.com as we do have a product guarantee and would love to talk further about your experience with the bar and arrange something for you š

Fantastic
Wow Too Delicious smells and feels too good!
Good, but heavy
Too delicious is a good conditioner bar- itās moisturising, easy to apply and smells great, but it is quite heavy. My hair can usually go three to four days between washes, and with the conditioner it gets greasy at about day two. Iāve been using it once a week instead of twice, and it seems to be working better. Buy this if your hair responds well to oil conditioners.
