How to store your Ethique products during the Summer months
Ahhh Summer. Who doesn’t love a bit of sunshine, time spent in the water and soaking up the rays?
Your Ethique solid moisturiser bars, for one.
The rising temperatures can throw a warm spanner in the works. Luckily, there are some easy ways to care for the more heat-sensitive Ethique products in your bathroom.
Keep on reading for our tested successful tips to help you get the most out of your Ethique products.
Don’t forget about your shampoo, conditioner or bodywash bars
Your Ethique shampoo bars, conditioner bars and even solid bodywashes are pretty tough and thrive in dry, warm environments.
But when it comes to hot and humid, not so much.
Use it, drain it, dry it - If you find them getting wet and mushy, seek out dry, airy spots like a hot water cupboard to let them dry out properly.
Keep them in a dry, airy spot once they’re back in the bathroom and make sure they aren’t being sprayed by the shower or sitting in a pool of water either.
#EthiqueShelfie - This is my home set up when my bars are struggling with the hot, humid climate. To the left, they’re stored in a well-draining container, with good airflow. Since my bathroom doesn’t face the sun, they don’t get too hot and mushy. To the right, I’ve got them in the hot water cupboard for some R&R. A day here usually dries them out enough to go back in the bathroom 😊
If you find your shampoo and conditioner bars really struggling to dry out properly and you’ve kept them as far away from water as possible, check out some of our other top tips for storing your shampoo and conditioner bars.

Solid Ethique products you need to pay close attention to
These products are made with a blend of oils and butters and have been designed to either work with warm water or melt with the warmth of your skin.
Because of this, they’re much more sensitive to hot temperatures compared to your solid shampoo or conditioner bars!
- Saving Face Serum - solid face serum for balanced to dry skin
- The Perfector - solid face moisturiser for balanced to dry skin
- Quench – solid face moisturiser for balanced to oily skin types
- Butter Blocks
- Bath Mylk - Solid bath melts for little ones
- Love Baby Bar - solid massage bar for little ones
- Baby Bott Balm - solid calming bum balm for little ones
- SuperStar - solid oil cleansing balm and makeup remover
SuperStar! - the most sensitive of them all
It’s rich, creamy, amazing at removing your make-up and also prone to melting. Even in the cooler months, it’s best to keep SuperStar! away from direct sun. Over summer, take extra steps like placing it in a cool, dark cupboard to keep it in top form.
Airtight containers are your solid skincare storage best friend
It’s a great idea to store your Ethique moisturiser, SuperStar! solid oil cleansing balm or Bath Mylk in a container such as a jar, tin or box.
That way, if it does melt a little bit, you can still use it, almost like your own home-made jar of cream. Any jar or container you already own will do!
Pro tip: If you’re travelling, this is the best way to store your Ethique moisturiser or SuperStar! solid oil cleansing balm.
Use your fridge to cool them down
When it’s warm, make ‘em cool. If your Ethique moisturisers, Butter Blocks, SuperStar! solid oil cleansing balm or Bath Mylk look like they are struggling in the heat, you might need to step into the big leagues: your fridge!
Store them in your fridge for about 4 hours to cool down and harden.
Oh and make sure they are clearly labelled. You wouldn't want to find your partner frying onions with them...
Now that your bars have chilled out, it’s your turn - hit that beach, pool or backyard sprinkler and enjoy summer. Just don’t forget your hat and SPF, of course.
