Our search for more sustainable alternatives to mica has led us to synthetic fluorphlogopite, also known as synthetic mica.

Synthetic flurophlogopite is made out of the same elements which natural micas are comprised of and posses the same chemical properties, allowing them to yield the vibrant, sparkly colors we use mica for. Because synthetic mica is made in a lab, however, the conditions under which is created can be closely regulated to produce a finished product with fewer impurities, is less abrasive, and is more sustainable and ethical to source than naturally occurring mica.
