I've used Ethique's shampoo bars for probably over 5 years now, and I absolutely hate the new shape. As others have said it doesn't fit in the old storage containers which has made it really really hard to keep the bars dry in the shower. Its just not practical for me to have to remove the bar from the shower every time after I've used it as I've got nowhere else to store it, so the storage containers were the best option.
The massive size of the shampoo bars now are actually so difficult to hold for a small woman's hand, I'm so much more prone to dropping it now which is a real pain. I wish you'd left a good thing alone :(

You're right that the new bars don’t fit into our original in-shower containers (which were designed over 7 years ago). One thing that can really help - both with grip and fit - is cutting the bar in half. It’s totally safe to do, and many of our team (and customers) find it makes the bar easier to handle and dry between uses.

I love this bar. Have used it religiously for 2 years now. But the new shape is terrible! As others said, it no longer fits in the travel containers, which is ridiculous.

You’re totally right that the new crescent shape isn’t compatible with some of our older storage options — especially the original In-Shower Container, which was designed more than seven years ago to fit our square-format bars. We did release a Travel Tin last year to better fit the crescent-shaped shampoo bars, but it’s currently out of stock and, due to ongoing tariff uncertainty, we don’t have a confirmed timeline for its return just yet.
We really appreciate you raising this — your feedback helps us understand what’s working (and what’s not) as we continue to refine our updated range.

The bar crumbles everywhere when touched. Quality is lower than the old version. Too much space in the packaging

The surface texture you’re seeing is completely normal for our sulfate-based bars (like Clarifying), which are made using a melt-cast process. This can sometimes create a slightly uneven, pressed-bead appearance on the outside of the bar — especially with the crescent shape — but it’s purely cosmetic and smooths out after a few uses.
As for the new packaging: it’s taller than our previous boxes to make the bars easier to spot on shelves and to accommodate their ergonomic shape, but the materials are still fully home-compostable and recyclable — foil and all. ♻️

I usually use the curly shampoo every second day, but have this shampoo on hand too for when I’ve skipped a hair wash day and my scalp gets very sensitive/oily/itchy.
