Shampoo seems to be gentle and the conditioner moisturizes amazingly. The other bar brand I use is more of a deep clean shampoo and it strips my hair making it extremely dry and frizzy. These bars lather up very easily, but they also do fall apart easier than the other brand I use. The smell is reminiscent of lemon grass oil, and is a stronger scent than I prefer, but not enough to stop me from using it. It doesn’t contain any synthetic dyes, but I am hesitant on the minerals they are using to give color to the bars. It would be nice if they just didn’t add any colorants that are unnecessarily being removed from their natural environments and accumulating in new ones.

I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner for curly hair exclusively for the past few years. I found it so much better than even more expensive shampoos and conditioners. But I was shocked at the new shape of the shampoo. It’s more awkward to hold and completely impractical to store, especially for travel. It makes no sense. I’m also wondering if the formulation has changed. I will unfortunately need to look for an alternative brand.

Just to reassure you, the base formulation hasn’t changed — the new Curl-Defining Shampoo is the same as the original Professor Curl, with the addition of FiberHance™ (a bond multiplier designed to strengthen and protect hair over time). The shape, though, is new — and we totally understand that switching from a square to a crescent can feel like a big change, especially when you’ve used something for years.
That new crescent curve was designed to glide more easily along the scalp for optimal cleansing — but we hear you on the travel and storage side, and I’ve passed your feedback on to our team.
